Girls' Trip & Our Favorite Things

Girls' Trip & Our Favorite Things

A few weeks ago, three of my best friends and I took a trip to the White Mountains in Arizona. We rented a cute little cabin for the weekend and enjoyed escaping the real world for a bit.

Tassy, Madison, Kayla, and I have been friends since we were young and every time we get together, we pick up right where we left off. Just like when we'd have sleepovers as kids, we were carefree and talked late into the night.

The cabin had an upstairs loft area with several beds. We pushed the beds together so we could all chat and be close. The place was adorable and I was happy to see handmade quilts on all of the twin size beds! They weren't in the best condition, many had seams that were coming undone, but I figure that just means they've been well loved. That's what we all want for our quilts, right?

One fun thing that we did for this trip was have a "favorite things" party. We each picked one or a few things that we love and we brought them to share with each other. This was such a great way for us to bond and connect, because we got to be a part of each others' interests.

Some of the favorites included: lip color, necklaces, candy, sunscreen, mini tweezers (I already put mine with my sewing machine) and candles. I brought a claw clip, a choker, and a Maker Valley enamel pin for everyone. I wear a claw clip to put my hair up almost every single day, and I've just really been into wearing chokers lately. The Maker Valley pins are adorable. I own several and have them on my purses, backpack, and denim jacket.

Madison gave each of us a HydroJug that matched our individual personalities. She searched all over to find the perfect ones, and that effort alone means so much. She absolutely nailed it when it came to my cup! It's my favorite color, a lovely mauve, and has a floral patchwork design!

Now, I'm sure this will come as a surprise 😉, but quilts are my favorite thing, so I also brought some quilts! I was a bit nervous about bringing quilts to share, because I didn't want anyone to feel obligated to take one if it wasn't their style. I decided to bring several and let each friend choose.

My hesitation dissipated when Kayla immediately claimed the first quilt I pulled out! Here's what each friend ended up choosing!

All three of these quilts happen to be ones that I made as pattern tests for designer friends of mine. From left to right, they are: Urban Pine by Kaycee of Sew & Sew Quilting Co., Stitched in Starlight by Dana of Colt & Lamb Quilt Co., and Amour Blooms by Becca of Becca Plymale Creative

They all chose such beautiful quilts! I'm so glad I got to share something so near and dear to me with these friends I love so much!

The whole weekend was absolutely wonderful and the favorite things party was such a success that we've agreed to make it a part of every girls' trip! I have two years to come up with another fun, quilted item to share!
